Actually, the fear of horrible food has done wonders for us. We've probably lost about fifteen pounds between us thus far, thanks to cooking all of our own meals, diligently reading the ingredient lists on everything, and running every evening - I'm up to about three miles a day. While I tried to keep sugar consumption low in Australia, I absolutely will NOT eat anything with HFCS in it, which is everything that would have sugar in it, plus a bunch of shit that shouldn't have either - salami & bread, for example.

Don't worry, Sven, you'll get there in the end. The concept of "graze cleaning" is interesting. Personally I've found that going at it from A to Z in one big bang then sitting back to admire the damage/result is the most rewarding. But as they say, each to his own poison!

Great story - the fast food sounds impressive - in a dyspeptic sort of way. The bucket of melted cheese idea reminds me of being a kid and making cheese sauce for macaroni (milk, butter, Kraft Cheddar Cheese). It was delish, but not nearly as heart-stopping as what you describe. I hope you're doing a lot of bike riding to get off the carbs. On re-reading .... did you ACTUALLY have a rectal probe done on you??? That's outrageous!!
